The Lord Provides

Latin America Caribbean

“How will these people ever be reached?” LAC global worker Ryan Jordan asked himself.

While flying over the Colombian Amazon, Ryan was astonished by the vastness of the jungle and the reality that 45 unengaged people groups across the Andean area of Latin America Caribbean still have no access to the gospel.

One of these is the Quechua people, who live two days beyond the nearest church, with no believers and no gospel presence. Ryan learned about them during a visit with a team working in the area. This team is doing something remarkable: running an Oral Bible Seminary that equips indigenous believers to learn and share God’s Word through the stories of Scripture. When the conversation turned to the Quechua, the challenge was clear. Reaching them would not be easy.

The next day, while preparing for a message that evening, Ryan was approached by six indigenous men who spoke Spanish and were curious about what he was doing.

“What is it you are looking at?” one man asked. “A sermon,” Ryan replied.

“What language?”

“Spanish.”

“I love languages,” the man said. “I’m learning two more right now.”

One of those languages was Kichua, the language spoken by the Quechua people.

Ryan asked why he was learning Kichua and the man simply replied, “Because I want to tell other people the Bible stories that I’m learning here.”

In that moment, a challenge that seemed impossible was made possible in a way only God can ordain. Gospel access is not merely about bringing the gospel to places where it is absent. It is advanced when God raises up His people and sends them to the ends of the earth.

The same God who sees the isolated areas of the Amazon is already preparing messengers from within those communities to carry the hope of Christ to those who have never heard.

WAYS TO PRAY:

  • Pray for indigenous believers who are being equipped to share God’s Word, that they would be strengthened, encouraged, and empowered as messengers of Christ.
  • Ask God to provide opportunities, resources, and workers to reach places where churches are not yet established.
  • Pray for global workers as they help bring gospel access to remote communities throughout LAC.

Want to pray with more focus for what God is doing in Latin America Caribbean? Coffee With a Missionary is a podcast featuring real conversations with LAC missionaries — stories of unexpected miracles, life among the unreached, and God’s faithfulness on the front lines. Season 4 is streaming now!

God is already raising up messengers to bring His Word to the remote communities of Colombia. Through Doxa, a global prayer and engagement resource stewarded by the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, you can join in this work by adopting an Unengaged Unreached People Group (UUPG) to pray for.

Visit Doxa, search Colombia or any other country, and choose a UUPG to pray for daily. Your prayers can help mobilize the global Church to see every people group engaged with the gospel, disciples made, and indigenous churches established among every nation, tribe, and tongue.
