Jonathan & Marissa Paulsen

We are Jon, Marissa, Owen and Parker, children's missionaries to Burundi, Africa. 

Located just south of the equator, along majestic Lake Tanganyika is the beautiful and mountainous country of Burundi. The poorest nation in the world, and one of the ten youngest, Burundi is an incredible country with a rich history, and a powerful need to hear about Jesus. 

While on a mission trip to Burundi in 2019, God began to call our family to minister in Burundi. Although still young, the church in Burundi is led by visionary and passionate leaders. Leaders who understand that the age of Burundi is not a drawback, but an opportunity. What better way to change the trajectory of a nation, than to introduce their children to the love of Jesus Christ? 

Since September of 2021, our family has been living in Bujumbura, Burundi and partnering with the national church to help train and equip a new generation of children's leaders. Along with training up the executive leadership team, we find ourselves teaching at the local church planting school and Bible school. And with the help of partnering churches, we are establishing rabbit farms as a means of generating income, and seeking ways to build children's church structures all throughout Burundi. We help run and facilitate a translation team that is not just translating children's church material into Kirundi, but textbooks and literature as well.
