Until Every Child in Malawi Knows Jesus

The Call

Josiah and Kayla were each called to do children’s ministry on the mission field at the age of sixteen. Since that time, they have devoted themselves to ministry in preparation for the fulfillment of this call. After nine years of vocational ministry, God told them it was time. Through a series of events, God made it clear to both Josiah and Kayla that the need is NOW and the need is HUGE. Josiah and Kayla are currently living in Malawi where they are serving their first term as fully appointed missionaries with the Assemblies of God. 

The Country

Malawi is a beautiful country with vast landscapes in Southeast Africa. Although it is small in size, Malawi is large in heart. In fact, Malawi is known as the “warm heart of Africa.” Malawi is one of the poorest nations on earth with 71% of the population living on less than $1.90/day. Due to AIDS and other poverty causing sicknesses, Malawi is an extremely young country with 67% age 24 or younger and 50% under the age of 15. There is still much to celebrate. Revival is breaking out across Malawi and the church is growing. However, the need for effective children’s ministry has never been greater.

The Cause

The need for children’s ministry in Malawi is at an all time high. With nearly ten million children living in Malawi, most churches do not have a trained person tasked to children’s ministry. Many churches want to reach the children around them, but simply don’t know where to start. We will work with the national church to train and equip the church to effectively reach children for Christ. This truly is a case where the harvest is great, but the workers are few. We will also work with local churches to bring care to the orphans around them. Nearly one in every ten children in Malawi is an orphan. We will work to bring hope to the least of these.
