About

My name is Elisabeth Nichols. I teach Special Education at Dakar Academy in Dakar, Senegal, West Africa. DA is partly owned by the Assemblies of God and is a college preparatory, co-educational boarding and day school program which provides education for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Dakar Academy has approximately 200 students, coming from approximately 30 different countries and 5 different continents. Talk about diversity!

Students are the children of missionaries, various embassies' personnel, and other businessmen. While the majority do come from Christian missionary homes, not all do. Therefore, it is even more of a blessing to teach using a Christian curriculum. My classroom is my mission field, as I get to teach the love of the ONE TRUE GOD and the Bible to students who may have never had a chance to learn the TRUTH otherwise. What a blessing!

I currently have the privilege of teaching an incredible group of students with moderate to severe special needs. Our students have literally no other schooling options in Senegal. That means, as a result of this class, our families are able to stay here in Senegal, doing the work they're here to do. So I don't take the blessing that is this class lightly.
