Chris and Katie have been serving as AGWM missionaries in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2017. Prior to serving in Sarajevo, the Sassers served in several ministry roles. Having been members of Cedar Lake Church in Biloxi, MS for more than 25 years, they have both served in youth, college and short-term missions’ ministries prior to moving into full-time missions. Their first full-time missions position was as international coordinators with the interdenominational nonprofit organization Know Think Act. Chris and Katie served in Uganda and Kenya during their eight years with Know Think Act.
Chris and Katie have been leading a youth ministry in Sarajevo since 2018 and they opened a skate shop (Skate Sarajevo) in 2022 as a way to build relationships, create jobs and bless their city. After serving in a local Bosnian church for six years, Chris and Katie stepped out in March of 2023 to launch the first English speaking church (New City Church) in the city. Through local business and church planting the Sassers are striving to shine the light of Christ in the city of Sarajevo.
