It was back in 1970 as his parents were preparing to leave for the field. They sold Richard's yellow pedal tractor and packed his little suitcase upon moving to Germany where he took his first steps toward being a missionary. In 1989 he arrived in Germany as a career missionary and has served there for the last 27 years. He met his Finnish wife Minna in Frankfurt, Germany and married her in the same city in 1992. They have two daughters, both born and raised in Germany. Through their international background and their multilingual skills the Boettigers are best equipped for the cross-cultural ministry in Germany.
Richard and Minna have been involved in Church Planting, Children's and Youth Ministry and Evangelistic Outreach. Richard is a mentor to many young men, equipping them for outreach and witnessing opportunities and for serving in pastoral ministry. Minna reaches out to women through Women's Outreach and speaking events.
It is their continued heart's vision to reach out to the people of Germany, reaching them one by one! Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me!" (John 14:6)
