OUR STORY

For the past decade, Leah has served as a single missionary in Cuenca, Ecuador. Michael has served with Convoy of Hope. With a little help from Speed The Light our paths crossed, our hearts aligned, and we were married in April of 2021. We would love to share the full story with you.  Leah has served as the director of our counseling, addiction, and outreach program in Ecuador. She also serves as a field team speaker for the National AG women’s ministry. She strongly believes that there is no pain that God cannot redeem for His purpose. Her painful past turned into a powerful testimony is living proof of this. She now lives to help others overcome their trauma and find freedom in Christ. Michael was called to missions as a young boy. He has helped to serve thousands around the world through feeding initiatives, rural compassion, and disaster response. He has a passion for teaching and investing into the lives of others through compassion ministry. We have now joined our hearts and lives to bring Hope, healing, and the power of God to the unreached communities still living in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador.

THE UNREACHED

There are countless small towns and villages throughout the Andes Mountains without a single church (thousands who have yet to be reached). In many of these areas, the gospel is even rejected. We have found that where Christianity is not welcome, compassion opens the door. We are honored to be serving alongside our national pastors to see the local church planted in these areas.  One day while visiting an unreached community Leah was standing in an empty field where a new church would soon be built. She began a conversation with a local woman about the needs of the people there. The woman shared that suicide and addiction were at an all time high and that many were struggling to provide for their families. In fact, 13 people had committed suicide the month before. When asked, "how could this be happening?"  What she expressed next changed our lives forever.  She said “There is no hope beyond the mountains”. This is now our mission. To bring Hope beyond the Mountains. There is Hope in the Gospel. Hope has a name. His name is Jesus.

We will be bringing HOPE BEYOND THE MOUNTAINS through planting the local church, counseling, and Convoy of Hope. In fact, we are excited to announce will be launching Convoy of Hope in Ecuador this coming year.

Would you help us holistically reach those who have never met Hope Himself?

Some opportunities for partnership include:

Inviting us for a missions window or service (virtual or in-person), children’s & youth services, women’s ministry, small groups, workshops, zoom calls, or just a coffee on us, and by supporting us through a monthly faith promise!

Most of all please join us in prayer for the unreached people of Ecuador.
Prayer does not fit us for the greater work. Prayer is the greater work.

Blessings,

Leah & Michael Baty
